UAE E-Invoicing: ASP Appointment Deadline Extended to October 30, 2026

The UAE Ministry of Finance has announced a significant extension to the deadline for businesses to appoint an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) for the upcoming e-invoicing system. The new deadline for ASP appointment is now October 30, 2026, a shift from the original July 31, 2026. This adjustment provides businesses with annual revenues exceeding AED 50 million additional time to prepare for the mandatory full implementation of e-invoicing on January 1, 2027.

Context of the Extension

The decision to extend the ASP appointment deadline stems from a comprehensive review of market readiness and direct feedback from the business sector. Concerns regarding the availability of broader technical options and the need for more competitive pricing were key factors influencing this amendment to Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025. The Ministry noted that 32 service providers have already been approved, with several others in the final stages of accreditation, contributing to a developing ecosystem of support for businesses.

Furthermore, amendments have been introduced to allow national companies to partner with international service providers under a white-label mechanism. This initiative aims to facilitate knowledge transfer, strengthen local capabilities, and ensure service delivery aligns with UAE requirements, thereby accelerating digital transformation.

It is important to note that while the ASP appointment deadline has been adjusted, the mandatory full implementation date for the e-invoicing system remains January 1, 2027.

Implications for Businesses

This extension offers businesses a valuable period for preparation. The additional time can be utilized for critical preparatory activities, including vendor selection, system upgrades, compliance reviews, and comprehensive employee training. The new e-invoicing framework will gradually replace traditional invoices and PDF copies with structured electronic invoices that must pass through an accredited service provider before being transmitted to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

Key Considerations for Businesses

Despite the extension, proactive preparation remains essential. Businesses should consider the following:

Accredited Service Provider Selection

Identifying and appointing an ASP that aligns with operational needs and technical requirements.

System Review

Evaluating existing ERP and accounting systems to ensure compatibility with machine-readable invoices and automated data exchange.

Compliance Assessment

Conducting a thorough analysis to identify and address any discrepancies in current invoicing processes against the new e-invoicing regulations.

Workflow Planning

Implementing and testing invoice workflows to ensure seamless integration and functionality within the new system.

Training

Providing comprehensive training to finance and operations teams on the new e-invoicing procedures and system usage.

The UAE’s e-invoicing project is a component of a broader digital tax transformation aimed at enhancing transparency, minimizing manual reporting errors, and enabling near real-time transaction monitoring. Businesses are encouraged to utilize this extended period to finalize their preparations, ensuring full compliance and operational efficiency by the January 1, 2027, implementation date.
